Technical Working Groups

Overall the working groups examine and keep ahead of Regulations, Standards and Guidelines that impact building health, and provide documents that support ongoing development and industry best practice. They also present key information to IAQA Australia and its membership in relation to educational topics of interest to industry.

The Indoor Environment Technical Working Group works to reduce health risks and improve occupant satisfaction in response to chemical, biological and physical factors in the indoor environment.

The Building Moisture and Air Tightness Technical Working Group works to link building design, ventilation and mechanical operation to occupant health and satisfaction in the indoor environment.

The technical working groups are considering covering the following topics:
  • Climate resilience considerations in building design, co structure, and occupation
  • Solutions to moisture and air tightness
  • SVOCs
  • Significance of new microbiome characterisation on IAQ industry
  • Asthma and IAQ
  • Hidden mould
  • IAQ and productivity
  • IAQ thresholds and exposure limits
  • Imported building materials to Australia
  • Routine IAQ monitoring
  • Building design and operation to minimise moisture/mould
  • IAQ assessments in water, mould, and fire compromised buildings
  • Position statement on IAQ issues for NABERS and other rating systems
  • Use of "fogging" as a remediation technology for indoor mould
  • Use of ERMI for assessing indoor moisture and/or as a remediation QA/QC metric
